Pacific Grove staff on Wednesday presented a revised draft of the city's housing element that adds five proposed programs intended to satisfy the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) request that the element include stronger, programmatic steps to affirmatively further fair housing (AFFH).
Acting Principal Planner Aaron Campbell told the City Council the draft AFFH measures include maintaining a list of sites prioritized for 100% affordable housing, a home-sharing program, residential standards for religious facilities under SB 4 and AB 1851, expanded residential uses behind downtown storefronts and a housing trust fund. "This program will preserve and protect our commercial corridors like Lighthouse, Forest, and Grand," Campbell said.
