The Los Angeles City Council amended and approved a motion Oct. 2, 2001, directing the city to provide $20,000 from the Neighborhood Community Services Improvement Account to support Justiceville/Dome Village. The council’s action includes a reimbursement clause: the city will be reimbursed from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds when those funds become available.
Councilmember Perry introduced a verbal amendment on the floor to permit the community-based organization to begin the process and to allow immediate disbursement. The motion was reconsidered and amended to direct the city to use the Neighborhood Community Services Improvement Account and to note that HUD reimbursement would follow.
The roll call on the amended motion recorded 12 ayes and the item was approved and forwarded to the mayor.
