A presenter said the position is intended to support building administrators (named during discussion as Mrs. Marchetti and Mr. Jackwell) by taking on student discipline duties, making parent contact and providing short-term classroom support. The district plans to pair the new hire with a mentor and provide a mid-year report to the board.
Board members asked about workload and the potential for the role to expand to other buildings. The presenter said the position is a pilot, would be evaluated mid-year and could be considered for other buildings depending on need and write-up volume. The presenter provided one data point: at the time of review, the intermediate school had “over a thousand write ups” compared with “three or four hundred” at the primary building.
The board approved the position as presented with no recorded opposition.
