The Hurricane City Planning Commission approved April 24 a final site plan (FSP25-17) and a related parking modification for Coral Close Entertainment Center, a recreational facility proposed at 800 West State Street. The applicant presented a parking study that supported reducing the city’s nominal requirement from 514 stalls to 340.
Applicant representatives and agent Chase Stratton attended the meeting. Staff noted the application had previously received an exception for certain fees; the commission reviewed the parking study and the projected spillover onto nearby facilities, including Coral Cliff Cinema. Commissioners expressed confidence in the study methodology and the availability of nearby shared parking during peak times.
A motion to approve FSP25-17 and the related parking modification, subject to staff and JAC comments, carried on a unanimous voice vote. Staff will issue final approval after required comments are resolved.
Commissioners asked staff to monitor parking and adjacent uses during initial operation to ensure the modification does not create conflicts with neighboring businesses.
