The Salt Lake County Board of Equalization on April 29 approved assessor and hearing officer recommendations affecting 361 parcels, signed off on two significant adjustments, ruled on two late appeals and approved lists to continue property and personal-property exemptions and to pursue revocation for organizations that failed to file.
"We have a total count of 361 parcels for which we made recommendations," said Brad Neff, tax administrator, as the board considered the assessor's packet of recommendations. The board approved the assessor and hearing officer recommendations by voice vote with a motion by board member Stringham and a second from board member Winder Newton.
The action follows routine review of assessor findings. Brad Neff also presented two significant adjustments and said, "We have a total count of 2," and the board approved those adjustments after a motion by board member Pinkney and a second by board member Stringham.
On late appeals, Brad Neff told the board there were two late filings: "One recommendation is to accept, because it meets the tax commission guidelines and the other is a recommendation of denial because it fails to meet those guidelines." The board approved the staff recommendations on the two late appeals on a motion by board member Stewart, seconded by board member Bradshaw.
The board approved continued exemptions for property on a motion from board member Bradshaw and a second from board member Stewart. County Auditor Chris Harding presented the list and asked the board to approve continued exemptions for four pieces of real property and eight pieces of personal property where use had not changed.
The board also approved an updated intent-to-revoke list for organizations that had not filed required materials; staff reported the list had been reduced to nine organizations from an earlier, larger list. Board member Bridal moved approval and board member Harrison seconded; the board approved the updated revocation list by voice vote and then adjourned.
All motions recorded in the meeting were approved by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript.
