County launches Colville Bikeshare pilot station, plans system expansion

Summit County staff introduced a Colville Bikeshare pilot station, a refreshed Summit Bikeshare logo and a public photo session at the courthouse before a planned launch. County staff said the Colville station will initially be a pilot for county employees; if the pilot shows responsible use, the program will be opened to the public.
Carl and Josh Stewart, the county’s active-transportation and marketing staff, described a recent restaurant-tax grant that funded a marketing plan and additional equipment. "We have received a number of additional bikes. We're at about 234 bikes as of right now," staff said; the system currently has 23 stations and staff said they have grant applications pending that could fund five additional stations and three more planned for this season.
Staff said the initial Colville pilot will place docks near the courthouse southeast parking lot and that county employees will test operations before broader public access is allowed. The county distributed hats and shirts to council members and invited them to a photo op at the new station.
