Council expands Summit County Housing Authority board to seven members and appoints commissioners

Summit County Council approved Resolution 2025-07A to amend the Summit County Housing Authority bylaws, increasing the number of commissioners from five to seven, and subsequently appointed new members to the expanded board.
Maddie, Summit County’s housing manager, told the council the proposed bylaw change corrects an error in an earlier staff report and aligns the commission structure to three county-council appointees and four at-large members. "The breakdown for the seven-person commission is three members from the Summit County Council and then four members at large," she said.
Council members said the applicant pool was strong and expanding the commission allowed more qualified candidates to serve. The council then moved to appoint several candidates; the motion listed names, terms and staggered expirations as presented by the council. Council members recorded the appointments by motion; the action passed by voice vote with one recorded abstention (speaker did not state a name for the abstention on the record).
Staff will work with the new commissioners and the housing manager to onboard appointees and align the commission work with existing housing programs and bylaws.
