Brookfield Selectmen authorized staff to solicit qualifications from engineering firms to support a planned bridge project on Moose Mountain Road and to create an on-call engineering roster for future work.
Town staff said the RFQ will collect firms' qualifications, examples of similar work, and typical rates so the town can select on-call engineering support for permitting and design for the single known bridge in town (Moose Mountain Road). Selectmen discussed whether to broaden the RFQ to include other routine municipal engineering services such as planning-board reviews or site-plan consultation; staff recommended starting with the bridge work and leaving optional services to be added if the board chooses.
Selectmen were told there is currently no cost to the town to issue the RFQ; the RFQ simply gathers vendor qualifications and proposed rates for future work orders. After brief discussion the board voted to authorize staff to issue the RFQ for engineering services. The motion carried on voice vote.
