Enterprise board recognizes Holly Hill student of the month and two support staff

Holly Hill Principal Miss Mitton introduced sixth-grader Trace Sandy as Holly Hill’s student of the month at the Enterprise City Schools Board of Education meeting April 15 and recognized two staff members as employee honorees.

Miss Mitton said Trace "is a leader in the classroom. He always does the right thing. He works incredibly hard and is very persistent and perseveres through anything, and just an absolute joy and a role model." She told the board Trace and his family recently moved from Illinois and that teachers and coaches repeatedly recommended him for the honor.

Miss Mitton also presented Sarah Ivy, a special education teacher who grew up in Enterprise and has taught at Holly Hill for nine years, and Hannah Smith, a special education aide who joined the school this year, as the "dynamic duo" for their work with students with special needs. Miss Mitton said the two "teach and they lead with love and compassion like no one I have ever seen" and credited them with helping students who have faced challenging needs to thrive.

Board members offered thanks to staff and retirees. The board noted several upcoming retirements and said retiree recognition is planned for the May meeting. One board member praised a longtime administrator (referred to in the meeting as having decades of service) and thanked staff and the board for their work serving students.
