Wright County supervisors approve bridge contract, adopt FY25-26 budget and several routine permits and appointments

Wright County supervisors on April 21 approved a series of motions and resolutions covering a bridge contract, licenses, appointments and the county budget.
Most significant formal actions:
- The board approved Resolution 2025-18 awarding the contract for bridge project BRO-S C099(106)-8J (Taylor Avenue/Lueck Lane area) to Merriman Bridge Construction (transcript: "Merriman Bridal Construction out of Alcona") for $557,691.44. Supervisor Dean Klooz made the motion to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and the vote carried with all supervisors present recorded as voting aye.
- The board adopted Resolution 2025-17 to adopt the fiscal year 2025–26 Wright County budget after a public hearing. A motion to adopt the resolution passed; supervisors recorded unanimous ayes on the motion.
- The board approved a liquor license for Top of Iowa Lucky Wife LLC for the effective dates Aug. 28–Sept. 2, 2025. The motion was made by Supervisor Ben Ellis and seconded; the motion carried.
- The board approved a cigarette, tobacco and nicotine vapor permit for Casey’s General Store. The motion passed unanimously.
- The board appointed Savannah Sussner as medical investigator per an email recommendation and approved a job posting for a heavy equipment operator in the bridge and sign maintenance facility with base pay of $29.46 per hour. Both motions carried.
- The Board of Supervisors approved routine minutes and claims as presented, including approval of drainage-district minutes and work-order invoices that were considered earlier during the drainage trustees session.
Several motions were routine and carried with aye votes from supervisors present. The board did not take action on the requested amendment to the seismic/road-use permit for Twin Rivers Exploration; that item was deferred for further review and follow-up.
