Council designates Sandpiper Circle 4 a historic district

The Palm Desert City Council on April 24 adopted a resolution designating Sandpiper Circle 4 as a historic district.
Carlos Flores of Development Services presented the request, noting Circle 4 is one of Sandpiper’s original mid‑century garden‑style circles with a central pool and residences organized around it. Flores said Circle 4 met the criteria used for earlier Sandpiper circle designations and that the Cultural Resources Preservation Committee recommended the designation.
Flores said the application included original site plans, plot plans and marketing brochures that documented the community’s mid‑century architecture and garden design and that similar rationale supported prior Sandpiper circle designations. The council received no public opposition during the hearing; staff said there were no written comments. The motion to designate Sandpiper Circle 4 as a historic district passed 5–0.
