The Burleigh County committee scheduled to review the Missouri Valley Complex Fund received no auditor report and agreed to table the item until the auditor can attend or provide documentation.
The committee chair said the fund review has relied on information from the county auditor and noted the auditor had not appeared at committee meetings “since May, June.” The chair said the item has been on the agenda for several meetings and that, if the auditor cannot present in November, the committee chair intends to file an open-records request to obtain the documents.
Committee members said they need clear accounting of the fund to understand deposits, proceeds from sales of items, and interest calculations. One member summarized the outstanding information as: where the fund stands, how monies were deposited, what proceeds were from sales and how interest was applied.
The chair instructed staff to keep the fund review on the agenda for the next meeting and indicated the item would be tabled pending auditor participation or the committee’s receipt of records.
