Peachtree Corners — The City Council approved an ordinance to adjust elected officials’ pay, setting the annual salary for each council member at $11,000 and the mayor’s annual salary at $1,000 more, effective Jan. 1, 2026. The ordinance ties future increases to the lesser of the consumer price index or the cost‑of‑living increases granted to city employees in any given year.
City staff said the salaries have been unchanged since the city’s incorporation in February 2012 and that the ordinance is intended to address the decrease in real compensation since then. The ordinance was published in the city’s legal organ for three consecutive weeks before the meeting, the city manager noted in presenting the item.
The ordinance specifies that the salary adjustment will not take effect until after the next municipal election (effective Jan. 1, 2026) and requires annual publication of the increase in the legal organ. Council approved the item on a motion, second and voice vote; no roll‑call tally was recorded in the transcript.
