Coatesville board appoints Anthony Rybarczyk as superintendent through 2028

The Coatesville Area School District Board of School Directors voted April 22 to appoint Anthony Rybarczyk as the district superintendent, with a term beginning April 22, 2025 and ending June 30, 2028, and approved an employment agreement as presented.

The appointment follows a motion, a second and a recorded vote during the board’s regular meeting. Board members who voted in favor included Lian Yako, Beth Brindle, Liz Muirhead, Shauna Maxwell, Elgin Bailey, Holly Sharas and Steve Wilson. The motion was announced as approved by the board secretary.

Why it matters: the superintendent is the district’s chief executive, responsible for day-to-day leadership, executing board policy and presenting budgets and staffing proposals. The board approved an employment contract at the meeting to formalize Rybarczyk’s appointment.

Board members commended Rybarczyk’s leadership during remarks on the record before the vote. In response, Rybarczyk said he was “honored and humbled to accept this opportunity” and that he would “work every day to ensure that trust is well placed.”

The motion packet presented to the board cited Section 1073 of the Public School Code in relation to the appointment process and included a draft employment agreement; the board approved the agreement as part of the motion.

What happens next: Rybarczyk will serve under the approved contract through June 30, 2028, unless the board modifies the term or the parties execute a new agreement. The board will continue to receive periodic reports from the superintendent on district operations, student achievement and construction projects at future meetings.
