The grants list included approximately $36,000 in awards distributed by the Duluth Public Schools Endowment Fund to multiple schools and staff projects and a Minnesota Department of Health grant of about $60,000 to support lead testing and remediation of drinking water in district facilities. Assistant superintendent Bonds and staff noted the lead-testing grant award will support testing and mitigation work and promised to circulate details on covered sites and scope once available.
Also listed were smaller grants to support STEM education at Denfeld High School and other site- and staff-level awards. Board members thanked former staff and community donors who help fund the endowment and reminded the public these gifts are distinct from district operating budget funds.
