The Village of Jackson Board of Public Works voted March 25 to approve traffic-control changes at multiple intersections: a stop sign at the Eastgate corner and yield signs at Poppy Road intersections with Primrose Court and Jasmine Court.
A board member moved to approve adding the stop sign and yield signs; the motion was approved by voice vote. The board directed village staff to draft an ordinance so the changes may be codified.
Police department staff reviewed all three intersections. Staff told the board the Eastgate location warrants a stop sign because it handles through traffic and the sign helps slow vehicles coming down the hill. The other intersections are cul-de-sacs; the police recommendation was to use yield signs consistent with Jackson signage code.
Board members discussed whether yield signs or stop signs were appropriate; police staff explained the difference in traffic function and location context. The ordinance drafting step was noted so the board's action can be codified into the municipal code.
