Rush Valley fire department reports training, inspections and low call volume for month

The Rush Valley Volunteer Fire Department reported recent training, vehicle inspections and operations statistics at the council meeting.
Fire department leadership said new and existing apparatus underwent inspections for the wildland agreement but older tenders and the older Ford F-350 were not inspected because they have not been used on wildland assignments in several years. The department reported one member passing a hazmat technician test and additional members completing National Wildland Coordinating Group red-card qualifications and live-fire training hosted at Dugway.
Call volume: Since the last meeting the department reported 6 medical calls, 4 traffic collisions and 3 fire calls; five calls were in town, two were in Stockton and six were in the county. The department reported 61 calls year-to-date and described the last month as relatively slow.
Why it matters: Training and certification increase the department’s operational capacity; inspections relate to the town’s wildland agreement and to eligibility for some reimbursements.
