Montgomery County approves $1.2 million contract to modernize district attorney’s case management system

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners approved an award of contracts May 1 that included a roughly $1.2 million contract to modernize the District Attorney’s Office case management system.
District Attorney Kevin Stewart told the board the new system is not merely a convenience but "a necessity, to move forward in in so many ways." Stewart said the upgrade will help the office move away from paper records, improve accuracy and transparency, streamline operations and enable better data collection and analysis for public safety work.
Stewart said the implementation will take time. "It's not gonna be fast... it's probably more of an 18 month process," he said, while expressing optimism about the system's long-term benefits to prosecutorial operations.
County discussion and public remarks at the meeting linked the award to the broader county push to modernize government information systems. In later remarks, commissioners framed the contract as part of a larger effort to reduce paper records, improve service delivery and explore new tools including data analytics.
The contract award was included in the board’s consent actions for awards and renewals and carried by a motion to approve contracts on exhibit B; commissioners voted in favor of the awards during the meeting.
