Southeastern senior asks to join Stoughton High senior walk-through on May 19

Kate Chamberlain, a senior at Southeastern Vocational High School and a former student of Stoughton elementary and middle schools, asked the School Committee during public comment to permit Southeastern seniors who attended Stoughton schools to participate in the Stoughton High School senior walk-through of the elementary schools and O'Donnell Middle School on the morning of May 19.
Chamberlain said the event would allow her and classmates to thank teachers who influenced their education and cited her academic achievements, including completion of an associate's degree. She acknowledged logistical challenges — including transportation for students who do not attend Stoughton High — and said participating seniors were prepared to arrange their own transport.
Student advisory representative Colleen Baharillo had earlier noted that the senior "walk through" of the elementary schools and O'Donnell Middle School is scheduled for the morning of May 19, confirming the event date that Chamberlain cited. Dr. Joe Baietta said the district would respond to Chamberlain's request and coordinate with high-school and elementary principals; principals will follow up and provide guidance for any arrangements needed to allow visiting seniors to participate.
The committee did not take a formal vote on the public comment request; members indicated the item could be raised as an agenda item at a future meeting if formal committee action were requested.
