U.N. and partners report first WFP distributions in central Khartoum and multiple aid convoys to frontline areas

The United Nations reported that the first WFP aid deliveries to the center of Khartoum have arrived and that distributions of 70 metric tons of food supplies for nearly 8,000 people in the Buri neighborhood will start the following day. The briefing said these are the first distributions within downtown Khartoum since the conflict began two years ago.
Distributions have also started in the Al Asari neighborhood in southern Khartoum for about 20,000 people, one of the areas at high risk of famine, the U.N. said.
The briefing also noted recent convoys and deliveries elsewhere: two humanitarian convoys facilitated by the U.N. and partners delivered 12 metric tons of medical, hygiene and other critical supplies to frontline communities in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine. In Sudan, an inter-agency convoy led by the deputy humanitarian coordinator, Antoine Gerard, crossed from Chad into Darfur on its way to Tawela carrying dignity kits, nutrition and medical supplies; food and nutrition assistance for some 220,000 people has already reached Tawela.
In Haiti, the World Food Programme said it had reached more than 1,300,000 people this year, provided more than 750,000 hot meals to more than 110,000 recently displaced people, and continued distributions of rations to Sittes Soleil, Lower Delmas and La Saline. WFP appealed to donors for $53,700,000 to sustain life-saving food and nutrition assistance for the next six months.
