Los Angeles leaders say Palisades wildfire recovery is moving rapidly; Army Corps finishes library debris cleanup

Mayor Karen Ruth Bass and city officials on Wednesday said recovery work in Pacific Palisades is proceeding faster than expected after recent wildfires, citing rapid debris clearance, rebuilding permits and declines in some public-safety and homelessness measures.
"The recovery in the Palisades is on track to be the fastest in California history," Bass said at the Palisades Branch Library site, where she and city leaders thanked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for finishing debris removal. "There was a 30 day window to complete it. They did it in 6 days."
The city and federal crews marked roughly 100 days since the fires. Deputy Mayor for Infrastructure Randall Winston told L.A. This Week the Army Corps had ramped crews from 89 to 95 and was clearing about 40 parcels per day. Winston said the city had cleared about 1,300 parcels to date and that, overall in the recovery effort, roughly 4,400 properties had been cleared, with about 2,300 fully complete.
