Commission continues Goldhawk at the Preserve rezoning to May 8 to allow additional notice and review

Staff described the project as a proposed unified rezoning to rural-43 REPD for an approximately 1,940-acre site near Burntwater Road and State Route 87 in the Fort McDowell/Goldfield Ranch area. Staff said the proposal would cap density at 0.36 dwelling units per acre and would replace a mix of rural-190, rural-70 REPD, rural-43 REPD and R1-8 REPD designations with a single rural-43 REPD over the entire site.
Staff reported organized opposition and a packet of written input described in the record; staff also said the applicant requested the continuance so adjacent jurisdictions and stakeholders would have additional time to vet the proposal. Commissioner Hernandez moved to continue to May 8; Commissioner Layton seconded. The roll-call vote was 7-0.
The continuance delays formal commission action so the applicant can coordinate additional outreach and notice. When the item returns, staff will present any additional jurisdictional comments and revised materials, and the commission will have the opportunity to vote on the rezoning.
