The Mehlville R-IX Board of Education approved the 2025–26 memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Mehlville National Education Association (NEA) on April 20, passing the agreement by a 6–0 vote.
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Shannon Pike and district chief negotiator Chris Tice presented the MOU terms to the board. Pike said the agreement was ratified by the Mehlville NEA on April 22 and sought board approval that same evening.
Key items in the MOU described in the district presentation include: - A $400 increase to the salary schedule base that will be distributed across the schedule. - A one-step increase for all eligible teachers; lane (channel) changes for eligible staff will be processed. - Revisions to the Activity/Coaching Supplement (ACS) schedule intended to modernize the structure; documented changes move longevity bonuses earlier and reduce columns on the schedule. - Tuition reimbursement increased from six credit hours per year to nine credit hours per year. - A restricted-leave waiver request process will be available on the district drive. - Remote-work options for employees on specific dates: August 15 and January 5 (a half day of the employee’s choosing) and March 13 (afternoon only), per the MOU language presented.
Board member comments thanked negotiators for completing the agreement ahead of prior timelines. A motion to approve the MOU passed 6–0 on a voice vote; the transcript did not record a named mover or seconder. The district said the MOU better aligns contract language to current district policy and sets the framework for further compensation and schedule adjustments in future years.
District staff will implement the contract changes for the 2025–26 payroll and administer the tuition reimbursement and new ACS schedule per the signed MOU.
