Colonial Park Golf Course reports stronger rounds and moves to expand amenities

Colonial Park Golf Course general manager Keith Nocca told the Clovis City Commission the facility is seeing strong play and improved finances after several capital and operating improvements.
Nocca said Colonial Park logged about 21,827 rounds in the first fiscal year the city provided and is already at roughly 21,000 rounds through March; staff projected the course will exceed 31,000 rounds by the end of the year. He credited recent irrigation, building and amenity upgrades for part of the increase.
Finance: Nocca said the golf operation moved from a substantial loss to $30,000 “in the black” through March financials (nine months), a performance he credited to facility investments and management changes.
Capital and operations: Nocca listed recent and planned projects: a remodeled banquet room, a new roof, restaurant improvements, installation of 80 new carts (up from 60), completion of recent aerification, and a fertilizer/punch program to improve turf. He said the course ordered sod to renovate the first six tee boxes, widening them to an average 400–500 square feet; those tee boxes will be closed for about three weeks while sod establishes.
Hours and events: In response to a commissioner question, management said the clubhouse and dining facility will extend hours to 9 p.m. nightly starting May 1 on a trial basis to capture evening patronage. Staff also described a calendar of tournaments and monthly community events intended to boost weekend attendance.
Range, irrigation and follow‑up: Commissioners and staff discussed driving range safety nets and the range irrigation system. Nocca said he has sought quotes for taller or extended nets and will include the work in the coming budget; he also said the front‑nine irrigation requires a more extensive design and upgrade before some range and turf improvements can be completed.
Commissioners thanked management for the financial turnaround and encouraged expanded community events at the course.
