The Leavenworth City Commission voted to adopt the city’s 2025–26 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan and authorize staff to submit the plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Bradley Brandon, the city’s community development coordinator, told the commission the plan is the fourth year of a five‑year program and therefore contains few changes from the prior year. He summarized program allocations: administration to cover staff time, public service agency grants to local nonprofits, a home‑repair program (the largest line at $93,000, targeting about 11 homes), a home‑ownership/down‑payment assistance program (about five households), and funds reserved for demolitions and infrastructure projects such as sidewalks. Staff held two public hearings and received one public comment related to Social Security accessibility.
Brandon said the city completed a community development board review and approved funding awards to Catholic Charities, Alliance Against Family Violence, Leavenworth Mission, Leavenworth Interfaith Shelter of Hope and CASA. He also noted that demolition projects typically take longer to deliver than direct service grants.
The commission approved the resolution to adopt and submit the annual action plan to HUD by recorded vote.
