Madam Clerk read Ordinance 25‑025 at a special Matanuska‑Susitna Borough Assembly session on April 22 at the Menard Center. The ordinance, described in the clerk’s reading, would appropriate monies from the central treasury for borough operating funds and enterprise funds, establish levy rates for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and set the wireline and wireless enhanced 9‑1‑1 surcharge rate for the period July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
The assembly opened a public hearing on the ordinance and then moved to continue that hearing. “I move to continue the public hearing on ordinance 25‑025 to 04/24/2025 at the Willow Community Center,” the Deputy mayor said. The assembly discussed logistics and timing for the continuation; there was no roll‑call vote. Hearing no objection, the assembly confirmed the continuation to Thursday, April 24, at Willow.
Officials also clarified participation options: the April 24 session in Willow will not permit calling in, and the following week the assembly will return to the chambers in Palmer where remote listening and call‑in opportunities will be available. Attendees were told the April 22 session was being streamed live on Facebook.
The ordinance and public testimony will be considered at the continued hearing on April 24 and at later budget hearings in Palmer, where further public participation options will be offered.
