Board appoints Brad Fowler as Alamance County tax collector and assessor, effective April 22

Alamance County commissioners appointed Brad Fowler as the county’s tax collector and tax assessor on April 21, with the appointments to be effective April 22, 2025.

Appointment details: Chair Bryant moved a combined set of actions: release of two interim officers from duties, acceptance of Fowler’s surety bond for the tax-collector role, appointment as county tax collector under North Carolina General Statute 105-349 effective April 22, 2025, appointment as tax assessor under GS 105-294 to complete the current assessment term (through June 30, 2025) and appointment as tax assessor for the full term beginning July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029. The board approved the motion by acclamation.

Background on appointee: Fowler introduced himself and said he currently serves as deputy tax administrator in Mecklenburg County and previously served as tax administrator for Catawba County. Commissioners noted his experience, certifications and that he teaches other appraisers at the state level. Fowler told the board he was excited to begin work with county staff; the board thanked him and welcomed his wife, who was present.
