The board's policy director said the district is considering replacing the brief existing policy (File 507) with two policies modeled on Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) language: one to govern school-sponsored activities and one to preserve a limited open-forum for student-led clubs. The proposed limited-open-forum language references federal equal-access protections and would allow student groups to meet on campus without implying school sponsorship, the director said.
The policy discussion attracted public comment from members of the Forest Lake Rotary Interact Club and a local Rotary officer. "My name is Susan Young.
