During the neighbor input portion of the meeting, Jim Henderson, identified himself as "the local chapter president" for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds beds for children who lack them.
Henderson told commissioners that the group's recent community build attracted more than 57 volunteers from nearby communities including Royce City and Celina, and that volunteers built 17 beds (the group's target had been 20). "We ended up we were able to build 17 beds. We have 17 completed beds," he said, and added that the chapter planned to deliver the first two beds locally on the coming Sunday.
Henderson requested donations and encouraged residents to scan a provided QR code for information on how to help. He said he would be available after the meeting to answer questions.
Ending: The commission received the update as a public‑comment item; no council action was requested or taken on the report.
