The Brentwood Board of Commissioners swore in Jason Gage as city manager on April 28. The mayor administered the oath during the opening portion of the meeting; after taking the oath Gage thanked commissioners and residents and said he and his family were “excited to be in Brentwood.”
Why it matters: The city manager heads the city’s day‑to‑day administration; a new manager can influence operations, priorities and staff direction.
Gage, speaking in his first public remarks to the commission, said he appreciated the commission’s confidence and looked forward to working with staff and the community. “I just want you to know that, my wife and I are excited to be in Brentwood. We're excited to serve,” he said, and added that he looked forward to “all the opportunities that we will have as a staff to serve you as a city commission and, really make this, continue to make this a great community for everyone.”
Commissioners and staff welcomed Gage. Several commissioners noted they had conducted a national search and that they were pleased with the candidate selected. The meeting contained routine administrative business after the swearing‑in; only brief operational remarks were offered by the new manager on his first day on the job.
