Residents raise bus-safety complaints and allege board members’ online harassment; board pledges review

Several members of the public used the board's public-comment period to raise two separate concerns: dangerous driving by school bus operators at a local intersection, and alleged bullying and harassment online by board members.

John Saunders described two incidents captured on video in which he said a district bus turned against the flow of traffic and put his wife and other motorists at risk. He told the board he will escalate the matter if the district does not address driver behavior, and suggested routing changes to avoid left turns. A district representative said they would review routing and that bus stops for the neighborhoods mentioned already exist; a board member said she would ask transportation staff to look into rerouting options.

Separately, Rebecca Cooper, a parent of a newly registered district student, accused board members of online bullying and harassment directed at parents. Cooper read the district’s definition of bullying from policy and asked whether the same standards apply to board members. She said she and other parents had been targeted online and asked the board to investigate. Cooper said: “When another member names you or tags you or indirectly involves you in another way, you are just as complicit to the bullying.”

Board President Michael Morgan acknowledged the comments and the meeting record shows general assurances that the district would review transportation routing and that concerns about conduct would be noted for possible investigation. The board did not announce an investigation timeline or a formal process at the meeting.

No formal votes or disciplinary actions were taken during the meeting on either topic. Board members asked transportation staff and administration to look into routing and driver safety; members also acknowledged the complaints of online conduct and said they would consider next steps.
