The House Committee on Commerce on Wednesday tabled House Bill 24-4, legislation to amend the Investment Incentive Act to refine eligibility for qualifying certificates, strengthen procedural safeguards, mandate more detailed reporting and enhance oversight.
The bill's sponsor, Vice Chair Julie Hogle, told the committee, "This is, my bill, in this committee. And at this time, I would like to, can I make a motion to table this? We're still working with CEDA on some amendments." Hogle asked the committee to delay consideration until the proposed amendments are complete.
Committee members did not object to the request. The chair acknowledged the motion and the committee agreed to table the bill to a future commerce committee meeting to allow continued work with CEDA. The committee record shows a quorum was present and the motion to table carried.
Members said the delay is intended to allow staff and CEDA to finalize language rather than move forward with changes that might require additional technical fixes later. No formal vote tally naming individual yea/nay votes was read into the record; the committee noted four members were present when the action was taken.
The committee did not set a specific date for resuming consideration; members said they expect to revisit the bill at the next commerce committee meeting after CEDA and counsel complete amendments.
