Clinton County commissioners approve $300,000 bridge loan, multiple contracts and hires; table used-equipment bids

Clinton County Commissioners on Thursday approved a short-term, unsecured $300,000 loan to Bucktail Medical Center, awarded several maintenance and consulting contracts, confirmed a handful of hires and resignations, and approved county bills and payroll for the period ending April 24–25, 2025. Commissioners also tabled bids for used electronic office equipment for review at the next meeting.

The loan to Bucktail Medical Center carries a maturity date of July 31, 2025, with interest to accrue at 18 percent after that date. Commissioners said the loan is intended to bridge payments delayed because of administrative changes in federal Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements; the county has provided bridge loans to Bucktail previously and commissioners said those earlier loans were repaid.

County contracts approved at the meeting included a one-year rental/maintenance agreement with Moorfield Communications for the single-wire InformaCast advanced notification system at a cost of $2,565, and a three-year elevator maintenance agreement with Port Elevator Inc. for county buildings (listed amounts in the contract remarks: Piper full service $489.25 monthly; courthouse full service $520.15 quarterly; garden building full service $383.16 quarterly).
