Medina Valley ISD trustees were updated Tuesday on construction progress for Creekview High School and shown revised plans for stadium improvements, including a premanufactured press box, as district staff said overall construction is roughly 65% complete.
The district’s construction update said pay application No. 18 (April) shows the project at about 65% complete. A district representative noted exterior roofing cap sheets and metal panels were being installed and that the campus’ main transformer has been placed but remained pending final connection. "We are at about 65% complete as a pay app number 18," a project presenter said during the construction briefing.
District architects and contractors presented a modified press‑box design that uses prefabricated modules to reduce cost and align maintenance and operations needs with the rest of the campus. Diana with O'Connell Robertson described the premanufactured option as four stacked modules that preserve the originally planned square footage and elevator access while opening circulation corridors: "we didn't want to compromise... wanting to keep the same squared fridges that we originally had in the design as well as making sure that we were not compromising any maintenance or operations in the future," she said.
Why it matters: trustees were shown how the stadium recommendation fits the larger schedule and funding picture. At the meeting staff said general‑contractor and owner contingencies plus buyout savings and remaining work procurement total about $21.62 million; staff proposed using contingency funds to cover TxDOT-related site changes (~$1.2 million) and a site/multipurpose building item (PR‑64) of about $7.9 million.
Details from the briefing: staff described ongoing site work (flatwork in critical turning areas), installation of base material on baseball and softball fields, interior work such as precast stair treads and auditorium HVAC rough‑ins, and kitchen equipment timelines. The project manager said gym joists, ductwork and ceiling work were progressing and that wood flooring installation is expected in July with seating scheduled for September. Kitchen equipment deliveries were projected for August.
Funding and schedule notes: during the briefing staff presented two figures for the stadium scope. Bartlett (contractor) provided a stadium improvement cost estimate and a draft change order; staff recommended incorporating the stadium scope within existing contingency and budget lines. The project presenter said buyouts and work yet to be procured equal roughly $9 million and that contingencies (contractor + owner) were north of $12.5 million, producing the combined $21.62 million buffer cited to the board.
What trustees will decide next: staff presented the revised press‑box option for board review and brought related contract documents to the board’s action portion of the agenda. The district plans additional exterior and interior milestone work over the summer, including electrical connections and substantial auditorium and gym finishes. Staff said the transformer placement and pole relocations by CPS/utility partners were in process to support summer work on diesel lanes and site access.
