SCUC ISD selects PBK Architects for long-range facility planning and bond assistance

The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to award a contract to PBK Architects to provide long-range facility planning and bond assistance services in response to RFQ25-015V.

Aaron Miranda, who presented the item, told the board the district solicited firms in March 2025 for services including long-range facility planning, bond committee support and bond-campaign strategy. "We received a total of nine respondents," Miranda said. The district shortlisted five firms for interviews and the evaluation committee concluded PBK Architects "best met the RFQ criteria," he said.

Members of the evaluation committee highlighted PBK's combined expertise in bond planning, architectural facility assessment and campaign strategy. Committee member Mr. Mosley said PBK "brought together individuals that really brought expertise in the three areas" the district sought.

After the board approved the award 7-0, PBK representative Luis Ayumada addressed trustees. "We're extremely humbled, graciously excited, and ready to get started," Ayumada said, adding that several PBK team members live in the district and were volunteering to begin work.

District staff said PBK will work with a district-appointed bond planning committee to develop facility assessments, conceptual designs and cost estimates that would later inform any bond proposal. Staff emphasized the initial phase will focus on facility assessment and committee collaboration; cost estimates will be refined as designs progress.

The board did not vote on any bond package at the meeting; the action approved contracting PBK to support planning and assistance. The board will receive future schedules and cost estimates as the planning process advances.
