Fresno State refining Kingsburg parks master plan survey ahead of summer grant round

Adam (staff member) told the Community Service Commission that Fresno State’s team is revising the parks master plan survey and assembling outreach plans that include in-person surveying at community events, door-to-door canvassing, mailers and an online survey.
Adam said the target was to roll out the survey in time to have numbers by May and that staff is still pushing that deadline. Fresno State students in recreation are expected to assist with in-person survey collection at locations such as grocery stores and the Swedish festival. The finalized survey will be sent to commissioners by email and — once the city manager approves — distributed to residents.
Staff said survey results will feed the city’s parks master plan update and support grant applications similar to Proposition 68; staff noted a state grant round is due in August and that the plan’s data will be useful for those applications. No formal decisions or votes were taken. Staff asked commissioners to review the finalized survey when circulated and to help publicize responses in their networks.
Next steps: staff will circulate the draft survey to commissioners before the next meeting, seek city manager approval, and begin outreach with Fresno State and community volunteers.
