District plans to replace aging maintenance vehicles; electric vans considered for non-snow operations

Operations staff told the board electric options are not yet feasible for heavy snow-plow trucks and that the large trucks required for winter operations must remain conventional vehicles for now. The district asked to space vehicle replacements across procurement cycles to avoid near-term repair spikes and to use available state purchasing contracts for the recommended replacements.
Staff said they had consulted with the village on electric fleet experience and that the recommended electric van model had been used positively in nearby municipal fleets. The board scheduled the formal procurement vote for the next meeting so the administration can provide final pricing and contract details.
