Oak Park ESD 97 board approves five-year contract with SEIU local 73

The Oak Park Elementary School District 97 Board voted to approve a five-year collective bargaining agreement with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73 covering school years 2025–26 through 2029–30.

The motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded during the meeting and carried on a roll-call vote. Board members voting in favor included the board president and a majority of the board; the meeting transcript records affirmative roll-call responses and the motion was announced as passed.

Board members who worked on the contract, administrators and SEIU representatives were thanked by the board president after the vote. Board members emphasized the goal of reaching an agreement that the district described as “a win for both our SEIU staff and a win for our district students and the Oak Park community.”

The district did not present contract text changes in detail during the public discussion segment; board members and union representatives indicated the agreement reflects negotiated terms that will govern workplace conditions, compensation and other items for SEIU-represented staff for the five-year period.

The board’s action authorizes district administration to implement the terms of the new agreement and to communicate details to staff and the public.
