SDML Workers' Compensation Fund presents Beresford with first platinum safety award

Brad Wilson, administrator for the South Dakota Municipal League Workers' Compensation Fund, told the council the city of Beresford earned a gold and its first platinum-level safety award at the SDML annual conference in Pierre. Wilson said the awards honor municipalities for workplace-safety efforts that reduce hazardous exposures and save taxpayer dollars.
Wilson said the Beresford award was the city's seventh safety award and presented the council with a gold and platinum award plaque. He credited finance officer Elaine Johnson and other city employees for documentation and safety practices that moved the city through bronze, silver and gold to platinum.
Council members noted other support received through the SDML fund, including automated cot loaders for both ambulances and grants for trenching/confined-space training and other first-responder assistance programs. The council thanked local contractors and volunteers who helped with storm cleanup and city operations.
