Board deletes outdated bullying materials, adopts equity and visitor policies and signs off on evaluation plan

At its Oct. 14 meeting the Middletown Board of Education approved several policy items and administrative documents.
The board voted to delete preexisting bullying materials that were superseded by a recently approved district challenging‑behavior policy and its regulations. The agenda described the action as deletion of: the Guide for Investigating Bullying Behavior, the annual bullying notice (Appendix A), bullying behavior forms and parent letters tied to the old documents. A motion to delete those items carried without recorded opposition.
The board also adopted a revised equity policy (Policy 301). The policy committee presented a redlined draft and a final version intended to align district policy language with the district’s strategic operating plan and legal references; the board approved the revised policy by voice vote.
The board approved an updated visitors and observations policy (Policy 1250), which the minutes show was revised to include statutory references and a regulation addressing interactions with immigration authorities and to clarify visitor protocols.
Finally, the board approved the district’s Educator and Leader Evaluation and Support Plan for 2025–26, a required administrative document the superintendent said was unchanged from the previous year other than routine updates.
Each item passed on voice votes with no opposed or abstentions recorded in the public meeting minutes.
