Public Service Commission accepts Potomac Edison tariff change to extend MFHEV EV time-of-use rate to multiunit dwellings

The Public Service Commission on March 26, 2025 accepted revised tariff pages filed by Potomac Edison Company to modify the company’s multifamily home electric vehicle charger service (MFHEV) rate.
Drew McAuliffe, on behalf of commission staff, told commissioners that on Feb. 28, 2025 Potomac Edison filed revised tariff pages to (1) edit the definition of “type 1 SOS” to include customers at multiunit dwellings taking service under MFHEV; (2) add schedule MFHEV to the EV time-of-use rider so residents of multiunit dwellings may benefit from time-of-use rates; and (3) adjust the supply charge under MFHEV to account for recently approved SOS rate changes that will be effective June 1, 2025. McAuliffe recommended the commission accept the tariff revision for filing with an effective date of April 1, 2025.
“Staff recommends that the commission accept Potomac Edison’s tariff revision for filing with effective date of 04/01/2025,” McAuliffe said in the transcript.
Jessica Grama, representing Potomac Edison Company, thanked staff for the recommendation and said the company had nothing further to add but was available for questions.
A commissioner moved to accept the tariff provisions for filing with an effective date of April 1, 2025. The motion was approved with the commissioners recorded in the transcript as voting “aye.”
The commission’s action puts the revised MFHEV provisions on file with an April 1, 2025 effective date and signals that multiunit-dwelling residents taking service under MFHEV will be eligible for the EV time-of-use rider and revised supply-charge calculations tied to SOS changes effective June 1, 2025. The transcript does not record any objections or amendments to the tariff filing.
