Scott Knutson, co‑founder of Keith Brands and presenter for BrandHouse Nevada LLC, spoke to the Cannabis Compliance Board on April 17, 2025 about his company’s history, products and plans for the Nevada market.
Knutson described the company’s origins in Colorado and said BrandHouse/Keith Brands operates as a brand and production company rather than a cultivator. “We don't do cultivation,” Knutson said. He said the company has entered multiple markets and operates “about 16 different states,” with a large share of the infused beverage market nationally and a substantial share of Nevada’s carbonated cannabis beverage market.
Knutson described several product lines, including Keith Brands' cannabis‑infused beverages and a separate Karma line that donates a portion of profits to local charities (he said Karma gives “up to 5 percent” back through local community charities). He said Karma had contributed about $14,000 to a Vegas charity last year and about $9,000 in Q1 of the current year. Knutson also described a medical product (Rick Simpson Oil/RSO) and a broader slate of SKUs (gummies, pre‑rolls, concentrates and vape products).
On licensing and transactions, Knutson said BrandHouse has an existing management/service agreement (MSA) related to Silver State Wellness and is working toward a full transfer of the Silver State processing license. He said the parties paid down back taxes and submitted a revised APA; “I paid about 50% down on it, and then there's a final payment that's due,” he told the board. Knutson said the final transfer would occur once final payment and necessary approvals were completed.
Board members asked about BrandHouse’s national strategy and whether the company sells delta‑9 (D9) hemp products. Knutson said the company is cautious about entering states with licensed cannabis programs: “We don't bring it into any state that has a licensed program, and we only bring it into states that have passed laws and regulations that allow for it,” and added that the company does not do direct‑to‑consumer shipping and focuses on brick‑and‑mortar distribution.
Knutson said BrandHouse partners with large beverage distributors when needed and referenced arrangements with major retail channels and distributors in specific markets. He also discussed marketing, price positioning and what he described as brand loyalty among price‑sensitive consumers.
The board asked no enforcement or licensing questions that resulted in immediate action; items related to other license transfers and a conditional license for a cannabis consumption lounge had been pulled from the agenda earlier in the meeting.
