Fairgrounds interfund loan: The board voted to eliminate interest on the existing interfund loan to the county fairgrounds for 24 months and then reset the loan interest to 1% until the loan is repaid. The modification applies to the loan that originated from LATCF funds, commissioners said. Dave Hensley, a fair board member who attended, said the fair board is exploring ways to boost RV-park use and tie discounts to facility rentals to increase revenue.
Community funding requests: The board approved two community funding requests: $30,000 to Klamath Showcase and $2,500 to Badger Venture; Klamath Idea received no funding. The motion grouped the three items and passed by voice vote.
Aria AI program: The board approved implementing an AI-driven software tool (referred to as "Aria") to support county operations, initially deployed for animal control. The board directed that Aria be housed in county IT and paid from internal services non-departmental funds at up to $500 per month; staff said a $1,000 vendor credit will cover some early usage. Commissioners asked for formal reviews of the tool's performance after 90 days and again after 180 days.
All motions were approved by voice vote at the meeting; in each case the chair voted "aye."
