At its April 28 meeting the Town of Lakeville Select Board approved several administrative and procedural items in brief votes. Below are the outcomes and the board directions to staff.
- Dispatchers union contract: The board approved a one‑year contract with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 888 covering police and fire dispatchers for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. The contract mirrors many police contract provisions; staff estimated a budgetary impact of roughly $12,000 this year. The board signed the contract.
- Job descriptions and hiring: The board approved two updated job descriptions and associated hiring steps: a Management Analyst (also referenced as executive assistant/management analyst in packet) and an Executive Assistant to the Select Board and Town Administrator. The Management Analyst description was approved with edits discussed in the meeting; the Executive Assistant description was approved with edits and an increase in hours from 32 to 36. The board directed staff to post the Management Analyst position with a targeted mid‑June start.
- Procurement and public works awards: The board approved an award through the Southeastern Regional Services Group for traffic line painting services to Markings, Inc. for the 2025 season (chlorinated rubber and thermoplastic items per the regional contract). The award language was amended to reflect an immediate start date for town use.
- Licenses and renewals: The board approved one‑day beer and wine licenses for Red Canoe Brewing for a May 31 tractor pull and car show at 33 Southworth Street, and renewed auctioneer and junk dealer/collector licenses for two local businesses through April 30, 2026, after receiving routine building‑inspector and clerk checks.
- Appointments and delegates: Frank Moniz was appointed Lakeville’s designee to the Joint Transportation Planning Group (term to expire May 31, 2026) with a select board alternate appointed; Lloyd Fahey was appointed as the Old Colony Elder Services board member (term to June 30, 2026).
- Committee actions and policy: The board voted to reestablish the Zoning Bylaw Review Advisory Committee (ZBrac) with its prior charge and membership structure; the Select Board also adopted a code of conduct for town boards, committees and commissions to set expectations about decorum and procedural remedies.
Several items carried without extended debate. Where staff were asked to provide follow up, the board directed them to return with clarifying documentation, cost estimates or draft terms as appropriate.
