Lemont board approves multiple annexations, rezonings and PUDs; all measures pass unanimously

The Village of Lemont on April 28 voted to approve several annexations, rezonings and planned-unit developments, clearing a series of land-use items that village staff and the planning and zoning commission had recommended.

The approvals included an annexation and associated rezoning for 15.9 acres at 12100 Bell Road (the Wallen Farm); an annexation, rezoning and preliminary planned-unit development (PUD) for 14306 and 14322 McCarthy Road to permit a 24-unit attached single‑family townhome project (referred to by the petitioner as “7 Oaks 2”); a rezoning and final plat to create a two‑lot subdivision at 1341 Gordon Lane (Summit Oaks); a zoning variation to allow a detached garage and driveway at 16 East Custer Street; a preliminary PUD for a new Silver Cross medical office at 15505 East 120th Street; and a final PUD limiting redevelopment at 801 State Street to two residential units or one limited commercial unit on the first floor.

Why it matters: the approvals change zoning and municipal boundaries for multiple parcels and permit construction that will add housing and commercial/medical space in Lemont. Several items had been reviewed and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission and discussed earlier in the committee‑of‑the‑whole.
