Riley County planning team schedules May 14 public workshop as comprehensive‑plan stakeholder outreach continues

Consultant Stantec has produced an existing‑conditions study that was being reviewed in house before public release. Webb said Stantec will supply draft goals for the subcommittees to use in developing recommendations.
Webb summarized ongoing stakeholder outreach: smaller cities including Leonardville, Riley and Ogden have been contacted about designated growth areas and other infrastructure needs. She described the county’s intent to provide support and information—such as grant notifications and planning resources—to small cities that lack dedicated planning staff.
The upcoming public workshop will present the existing‑conditions study and include interactive activities. One activity—"Riley Bucks"—asks participants to allocate limited hypothetical dollars to priorities; another activity asks participants to capture priorities in a short phrase. Webb said the public workshop is intended to surface priorities that will guide plan goals and limited resource decisions.
