TWRA staff displayed maps and noted the Scotts Gulf site is in Middle/East Tennessee south of Sparta near Bridgestone Firestone property. The Wolf River parcel is in West Tennessee and was described as a roughly 5,000–5,500‑acre parcel that had been part of Ames Plantation before sale; the parcel is currently owned by the Department of Agriculture. Chief Benedict asked whether there were public comments; commissioners heard none and approved both proclamations by voice vote.
Why it matters: Designating lands as PHAs typically opens additional public access or changes management to allow hunting opportunities and public recreation on parcels transferred to or managed by the state.
Vote and next steps: Both proclamations passed by voice vote. TWRA staff said maps and further management details will be provided to the public as the agency implements access and habitat management on the designated properties.
