Bus-garage precast issue slows facilities work; district weighing policy-service contract

The River Falls School District finance and facilities committee reported a construction delay at the bus garage project and continued discussion about whether to contract for a policy-management service.
Committee members said precast concrete panels delivered for the bus garage had openings placed in incorrect locations, requiring some panels to be remade. "The precast concrete, they raised the ceilings and then the holes in the precast got put in not quite the exact right place," a committee member said, adding that about 10 panels would need to come down and be replaced; the vendor will cover the work and the district expects a slight schedule delay.
On policy services, administrators described proposals from vendors that provide policy templates, legal updates and searchable public-facing policy platforms. One committee member noted Neola was a preferred option and described an initial setup cost of about $17,000 plus an annual fee; no contract decision was made and the administration said it would seek additional information and consult the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) before returning to the committee.
The committee also reviewed budget-tracking information and a recommendation to modestly raise school meal prices by 5–10 cents at various levels; the committee forwarded that recommendation to the full board and the board subsequently approved the price adjustments.
