Life Chiropractic College West reported to the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners that its Bellevue, Nebraska additional education site has received regional institutional accreditation and is working toward programmatic accreditation from the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE).
Scott Dawson, provost for Life Chiropractic College West, told the board that the Bellevue campus received institutional accreditation from the regional accreditor after a site visit and that CCE accreditation for the chiropractic program on that site will follow the first graduating class and additional reporting. Dawson said the CCE cycle requires the campus to document comparable student outcomes, board scores and other performance metrics and that Life Chiropractic plans to submit the required materials in the fall and expect a CCE site visit in the spring, with a possible CCE decision the following July.
Dawson said the Bellevue campus intentionally enrolls smaller cohorts — two admitted classes per year and a smaller maximum class size — to reflect the space and program design chosen for that site. He told board members the campus has about four admitted cohorts and roughly mid‑40 students total and that leadership is tracking student performance and demographic differences between the Nebraska site and the California campus. He said most students are regionally local (Omaha and nearby states) and that the campus has usual complement of faculty drawn largely from the local region.
Board staff recommended adding an interim status note to the board’s website indicating that the institution and additional‑education site are acknowledged and that the board will revisit any request for formal approval after CCE program accreditation is completed. The board agreed to hold further action pending CCE approval but asked staff to post an informational status note on the board website so applicants and students can see the campus’ current status.
Why it matters: Schools opening additional training sites must satisfy both institutional and programmatic accreditation steps. The board must weigh program equivalence and public protection before recognizing a new training site for licensure eligibility and said it will revisit the item after the CCE action.
What’s next: Life Chiropractic College West will submit a report and documentation to CCE this fall, host the CCE site visit in spring, and expect formal CCE action the following July. The board asked staff to post an informational note about the Bellevue site’s status on the licensing page.
