County staff invited the Council on April 30 to attend the Clark County Youth Commission meeting on Thursday, May 15, where the commission will present community recommendations focused on healing, mental health and intergenerational connection.
"The meeting is happening Thursday, May 15, from 06:45 to 08:45PM," Jordan Vogie said. He told council that if three or more councilors attend, the meeting will need to be noticed to the public.
Chair Madhuri Marshall and at least one other councilor indicated interest; staff said the commission limited the invitation to the chair plus one additional councilor and councilors agreed to coordinate attendance among themselves.
On a separate item, staff presented a draft Pride month proclamation for the June 3 council meeting. Council gave a unanimous thumbs‑up to issue the proclamation and Chair Marshall volunteered to read it at the June 3 meeting.
Why it matters: the Youth Commission presentation offers council direct engagement with youth priorities on mental health and intergenerational programming. The Pride month proclamation is a ceremonial action the council traditionally reads in June.
Next steps: staff will confirm which councilor will attend the May 15 Youth Commission meeting (chair plus one), will notice attendance if three or more councilors plan to attend, and will include the Pride proclamation on the June 3 agenda.
